The ordered departure of non-emergency staff comes after the rebel group "increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia," the State Department said.
The State Department ordered diplomats and families to leave Saudi Arabia amid rising Houthi rebel attacks and escalating security concerns.
The decision comes as Saudi Arabia faces repeated attacks on airports and energy infrastructure, raising security concerns across the Gulf region.
The airport is in Dammam, which is near the headquarters of oil giant Saudi Aramco. For weeks, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militia has been attacking the kingdom’s aviation and energy sectors.
