Washington is supporting a rapid restart of Russian natural gas exports through Ukrainian pipelines as part of talks to secure an energy ceasefire before winter
The idea is intended to unlock an energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv but it faces resistance in European capitals.
The proposal would allow Russian gas to be sold to European buyers through a US intermediary, potentially bypassing European sanctions.
European leaders, so far, have remained firm on their stance that it won't resume Russian energy purchases even after a full peace agreement is reached.
